Dear Residents,
Exciting news is on the horizon for Brockwell Park! Significant restoration work will begin, aimed at enhancing the park’s beauty and usability for everyone. Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming improvements:
Ground Levelling and Seeding
The primary focus of this restoration effort is to level the ground and sow grass seed over the barer areas. This involves:
- Filling Deep Holes and Ruts: All deep holes and ruts will be filled to create a smooth surface.
- Harrowing and Levelling: The bare areas will be harrowed several times to break up the soil before levelling.
- Over-seeding: Once the ground is prepared, it will be over-seeded to encourage new grass growth.
Equipment Removal
The restoration process will kick off with the removal of any remaining event equipment. This will take place on Monday, clearing the way for the levelling and seeding work to begin.
Timeline and Public Access
The restoration work is expected to be completed by the end of the week. Once the work is finished, the fenced-off areas will be reopened for public use. However, a few smaller sections may remain fenced off to give the new grass seed the best chance to germinate undisturbed.
Future Works
As autumn approaches, additional works and further seeding will be undertaken to ensure the area is in top condition. This includes:
- Review and Enhancement: The entire area will be reviewed, with verti-draining and over-seeding carried out as needed.
- Football Pitch Treatment: The football pitch will receive the same ground treatment, but with a different seed mix suited to sports pitches.
Boosting Biodiversity
In an effort to support biodiversity, a small amount of white clover will be added to the seed mix. This addition will not only enhance the park’s greenery but also help fix nitrogen in the soil, promoting healthier grass growth.
Thank You for Your Patience
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this restoration period. These improvements will ensure Brockwell Park remains a beautiful and vibrant space for all to enjoy. Stay tuned for updates, and look forward to enjoying the newly restored areas once the work is complete!

Thank you,
